Oprah Winfrey will be teaching at her all-girls school in South Africa starting this Fall. The media icon decided to teach “Life 101” to the 12th-graders (SS3) preparing for college after her recent visit to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.
“All the stuff I wish someone had told me about how the world works,” Oprah said. “It should be fun since I love to teach. And they’re like sponges.”
Oprah has always said that if she was not a big media titan, she would have wanted to be a teacher. She also joined the school’s first graduating class stateside earlier this year as they flew to the United States to check out colleges. The talk show queen took 26 girls from her Leadership Academy for Girls for an exclusive visit to America’s White House where they met the Obamas while they were scouting for tertiary institutions to study at.
“This first class is both anxious and excited about going to college,” she said. “Most will be the first in their family. So it’s a very big deal for them, and they’re feeling the pressure.”
In a letter to fans, Winfrey talked about her recent visit to South Africa where she spent time with the girls. “They were all stressed for tests, but doing fine,” she said.
