Nigeria: Policeman Shoots Taxi Driver To Death

A Mobile policeman allegedly shot a taxi driver, Tuesday, at a popular nite club in Opebi area of Lagos State.

The mobile policeman, a corporal whose identity is unknown, was called to settle a dispute between a barbecue seller and some fun seekers when it happened.

After the fight ensued, the policeman tried to take them to the station but they resisted. This led to struggle between them and in the process, the policeman fired some shots.

A taxi driver sitting on the bonnet of his car, waiting for passengers was hit in the chest by a bullet, thereby killing him on the spot.

The policeman, confused and frightened, made off as fast as he could lay his feet to the ground. All effort to catch him by the people around failed.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Samuel Jinadu, claimed he was unaware of the incident.
