Nigeria: Boko Haram’s Peace Talk Spokesman Killed By Unknown Gunmen

The eldest inlaw of the late Boko Haram leader was killed this afternoon by unknown gunmen in Maiduguri, Nigeria. Alhaji Babakura Fugu recently met with ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo to discuss peace talks between the government and the Islamic Sect. He received the Obasanjo delegation in Maiduguri on Thursday.

The gunmen are yet to be identified. However, report says members of Boko Haram were not in support of having peace talk with the government. It is speculated that members of the sect killed him for welcoming the ex-president and the idea of peace talk with the government.

Babakura Fugu, 48, was the eldest son of Yusuf’s in-law, Late Ba Fugu, a former Commissioner for Religious Affairs who was also executed by security forces during the Boko Haram uprising in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
