Nigeria: Ex-Governors Arrested Over Alleged N101 Billion (About $673M) Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has on Thursday arrested the former governors of Nasarawa, Ogun and Oyo states in connection with an ongoing investigation of fraud during their terms in office.

The spokesman of the anti-graft agency, Femi Babafemi, said Gbenga Daniel of Ogun state, Christopher Alao-Akala of Oyo and Aliyu Doma of Nassarawa were picked over allegations of a N101 billion fraud the commission is currently investigating.

He added that the former governors are currently undergoing interrogations on the allegations in Abuja.

Babafemi said: “We’ve them in for interrogation over allegations of fraud. Gbenga Daniel is being investigated over a N58 billion fraud allegation while Alao-Akala is in for N25 billion. Aliyu Doma is being investigated over an N8 billion fraud.”

He added that the anti-graft commission will keep them in custody and will charge them as soon as the investigations are over.

    yeah right!!!then just like igbinedion they get a N3,000,000 fine for looting N30,000,000,000 its a charade we are not interested…nothing ever happens to pdp governors…
