Wizkid & Tinie Tempah Win At 2011 Music Of Black Origin Award

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun a.k.a Wizkid, the young Nigerian musician, won the “Best African Act” award at the 2011 Music of Black Origin, MOBO, which took place Wednesday night in Glasgow, Scotland.

Also, the 23-year-old Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu a.k.a. Tinie Tempah, a British rapper of Nigerian origin, was an award winner as well as he won the Best Hip Hop/Grime Act prize.

Unfortunately Wizkid could not make it to Glasgow as he was busy in the studio with Wande Coal. He tweeted; “TEAMWIZKID we did it!! Now let’s get the EMA. God bless everyone that voted, wow!!!”

Other artistes in the category were D’banj, Seun Kuti, Cheikh lo, Vieux Farka Touré, Fatoumata Diawara, Smod, Liquideep, Spoek mathambo, and Owiny signma band.

Jessie J stole the show as she won 4 out of her 5 categories. The Essex born star, won best UK act, best newcomer, best song for Do It Like A Dude and best album for Who You Are.

Rihanna won best international act and Adele, best R&B/soul act.

Boys II Men was awarded the most outstanding contribution to music.
