Not less than 50 people were killed on new year’s eve in Ebonyi, southeastern Nigeria in clashes between two rival ethnic communities.
The clashes erupted between the Ezza and Ezilo people of Ishielu district. This is not the first time the two ethnic groups have engaged in conflict.
Although the exact death toll is yet to be determined, witnesses say not less than 50 people were killed.
A spokesman for the Ebonyi state government said police and troops were dispatched to quell the violence.
