Nigeria: Christian Orphanage Set Ablaze In Minna

A Christian Orphanage, ‘Bethany Home’ was on Monday set ablaze at about 10a.m in Minna, Niger State capital, in fresh attacks on Christians in the state, throwing out orphans and less privileged children and destroying properties worth millions of naira.

The unknown arsonists attacked the facility, set mattresses spread outside the home on fire, and finally set the home ablaze.

Attack on the home was first carried out twice last Wednesday through an uncompleted building beside the home, but the quick intervention of inmates of the home contained the fire; although the arsonists succeeded in burning a room in the home.

The Niger state branch of Mission Field Coordinator of Missionary Alliance for Africa, owners of the home, Pastor Isaac Ogwu, told newsmen that the unknown arsonists have attempted the attack no fewer than five times.

Ogwu, who said they have been living in peace with their neighbours for many years, recalled that on Sunday, the home woke up to find one of the missionary motorcycles parked within the premises of the home burnt by unknown persons.

According to him, “We woke up this morning to find some of the mattresses left outside on fire.

The children and everybody in the house had to put off the fire, only for them (arsonists) to come back and set the entire house on fire.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Richard Oguche, ASP, confirmed the incident, adding that two people have been arrested over the attack on the home.

Oguche said the state Field Mission coordinator of the home had reported the attacks on the home, but was unable to identify the attackers.

The police spokesman said investigations are going on to bring the perpetrators to book.

Their Lord, while on earth was persecuted. He says the birds of the air have nests, the animals of the forest have holes but, the Son of Man has no place to lay down His head.
Consolation to them! We’re in a wicked world and the heart of man desperately evil.
