Some of today’s explosions occurred in a garage around Sabon Gari area of Kano metropolis, a popular travel hub where scores of commercial vehicles travelling to Southern parts of the country and parts of the North pick up and drop off passengers.

The source said, “I can confirm to you that some explosives related to IEDs indeed exploded in Sabon Gari area in particular, a garage. They were buried under some iron and five people around the scene were injured though it is minor.”

The kidnapped German reportedly works for a company belonging to businessman Saayau Dantata. Our security source, who pleaded anonymity, said that a manhunt has begun for the return of the man.

Kano was last Friday ravaged by a series of bombings undertaken by the militant Islamic group, Boko Haram, mainly of security agencies. Over 200 people, mostly Muslims, were killed.

In a YouTube clip today, Imam Abubakar Shekau, a leader of the group, said that the people who died in the attacks were killed by policemen and soldiers, not Boko Haram. He said his group’s target had been security agencies and non-Muslims.
