Nigeria: Another Boko Haram Attack In Kano

Another attack was on Friday launched on the Mandawari police station in Kano by members of the dreaded Islamic sect the Boko Haram, scaring residents of the area with sporadic gunshots.

Report says the suspects stormed the area in a large group and started shouting “Allahu Akbar”, meaning Allah is Great before firing the first shot to ward off any resistance and headed to the premises to attack the policemen.

Security men were sent to man the area and bring normalcy as the attack continued.

A police source, Mohammed Sorondikin, confirmed the incident but said there would be no public statement until all the details were known: “Gunmen attacked Mandawari police station this evening. The gunfire between them and the police was really bad, but nobody knows the casualties just yet. People were scrambling for safety.”

Details of casualties are not known yet.

Meanwhile, a team of policemen on patrol in Nsukka area of Enugu State yesterday arrested 25 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect.

The suspects were being conveyed by a young driver and an aging conductor in a Toyota bus, belonging to the Zamfara State Government with registration number XA 581 MRD.

Some of the items recovered from the suspects were guns, unexpended bullets, daggers and battle axes.
