Members of the extremist Boko Haram sect Wednesday night raided the Koton-Karfi Prison in Kogi State, killed a security man and freed its imprisoned members.

This happened at about 7p.m immediately after Magrib prayer and lasted for about 30 minutes.

Report says the sect’s members, numbering about 20, bombed the main gate of the prison and opened fire on one of the security men at the gate and killed him.

On entering the premises, the sect members shot sporadically into space to chase other prison officers away and freed some of their suspected members. Other prisoners took advantage of the invasion and escaped immediately the attack was over.
