Trouble at the school started last Thursday after rumours swelled that a Grade 2 pupil regularly turned into a SNAKE, and sometimes a BIRD.
Hundreds of parents and locals stormed Yamuranai Primary School on Thursday last week and again on Monday this week forcing the headmistress to barricade herself in her office, the ZBC reported.
In interviews, parents said up to 30 pupils at the school had become hysterical, with some “exhibiting extraordinary strength while speaking in unusual voices and tongues”, the Herald newspaper added.
Some pupils had started “bleeding through the nose” after falling into a “Satanic trance”.
Parents have demanded the school’s CLOSURE.
Police have also been asked to investigate a mystery woman said to be driving a vehicle with tinted windows who has been seen “whisking boys from the school every day”. The ZBC said the woman is believed to be from Budiriro suburb.
One parent told the Herald: “We got to know about these strange happenings last Thursday, but today things got worse with one pupil narrating how they were being taken to a secluded place by a middle-aged lady, who also has a child learning at the school.
“The lady offered the children chocolates and sweets and took them to a secluded place in Budiriro where they were made to play video games and drink some concoctions.”
Another parent stormed: “My child has been coming home late and he tells me that he is coming from extra lessons.
“I started having questions after realising that his behaviour had changed. He does strange things which include being violent and disappearing at odd hours.
“He has gone into a trance several times in the past five or six days.”
The ZBC says most of the trouble centres on one particular pupil who is rumoured to “regularly change into a snake or bird”.
A ZBC news crew filmed outside the pupil’s residence and a man who said he was a landlord for his parents, speaking off camera, confirmed there were suspicions that the young boy had been “initiated into Satanism”.
He added: “I personally have never seen him transform into a snake or bird as alleged.”
Calvin Mazula, the provincial education director for Harare province, said: “I am waiting for the authorities to give me information about what transpired.”
