After 39 years that the duo first played on the same stage in 1973, Juju icons King Sunny Ade and Evangelist Ebenezer Obey are set to perform on stage again. This is a dream come true for fans of both legends.
They will be playing on Childen’s Day, May 27 in celebration of the 70th birthday of Evangelist Obey and King Sunny Ade’s 50years on stage.
Otunba Ayodeji Osibogun whose company WTC is putting together the concert disclosed that the high point of the show will be the introduction of Fatai Rolling Dollar and Baba Sala as the compere of the night.
Both gentlemen he said played vital roles in the early development of the Juju icons. “While it was Baba Sala that trained King Sunny Ade, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey learned his trade under the keen eyes of Fatai Rolling Dollar” the former broadcaster turned businessman revealed.
King Sunny Ade and Evangelist Obey both pledged to make the show a memorable one for Nigerians.
On Tuesday April 3rd, his birthday, a thanksgiving service will hold in the morning and followed by a reception with a public presentation of Obey’s biography and TV documentary.
