Report says the attack targeted catholic worshippers at the Champlaincy right inside the university.
Abubakar Jibril, a spokesman for Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency, said at least three explosions had struck an old section of Bayero University’s campus in the city of Kano and its surrounding area. He said sporadic gunfire was still ongoing.
Jibril said rescue officials could not reach the site as an apparent terrorist attack was still underway.
The casualty and extent of damage has not been confirmed.
Islamist group Boko Haram claimed January 20 attacks in Kano, when coordinated bombings and shootings left at least 185 dead, the extremists’ deadliest attack yet.
