3rd from right: Honourable Sikiru Ayedun, the Osun state Commissioner for Home Affairs at the scene of a fire outbreak which occured Tuesday by the fence of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

The fire incident consumed seven of the array of kiosks lining up by the fence of the Teaching Hospital.

Speaking with newsmen at the spot of the incident, Mrs Fola Ayorinde, one of the owners of the affected kiosks said it was not quit long after she had closed business around 10.40pm that she received calls that her kiosk was on fire. She added that she quickly forwarded the message of the incident to other owners of the affected kiosks.

Fola who was visibly shaken explained that she had never experienced such incident at the spot for more than ten years where she had been running her business.

“we have never had such experience as this for more than ten years here. I did not light up my stove or anything today. God knows what is hidden. Why is it today when I completed my two rooms that this is happening. See how my livelyhood has been ruined. They finished me…”, she explained amidst tears.

Meanwhile Honourable Ayedun who was captured vigorously assisting in saving the situation suspected that the fire outbreak could have come from a particular kiosk which was the only one that was made of plywood. Other affected ones are constructed with metal. He added that but for the quick intervention of the men of the Osun State fire service, the fire incident could have affected the Accident and Emergency building of the teaching hospital.

He commended the men of the state fire service for rising to the occasion promptly, adding that the development has called for the need to take a second look at the structures around such public institutions and buildings as LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.
