Singer Donna Summers Dies

Donna Summers. Photo by: American singer/songwriter, Donna Summer, known as the Queen of Disco, has died Thursday morning after a battle with cancer. She died at the age of 63.

TMZ reports that the singer was in her Florida home at the time of her death.

She was known as the “Queen of Disco,” and rose to superstardom in the 1970s with her hits “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff,” and “Bad Girls.”

She had a mezzo-soprano vocal range, and was a five-time Grammy Award winner.

Summer was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the US Billboard chart, and she also charted four number-one singles in the United States within a thirteen-month period.
