“We Were Forced To Fly The Faulty Plane” – Dana Airline Official (Audio Included)

By Channels TV

An official of Dana Airlines who does not want to be named has just confirmed to Channels Television that the ill-fated Dana Air flight 0992, MC Donnell Douglas (MD 83) was faulty shortly after it left Lagos and stopped over in Calabar.

She alleged that the Indian owners of the airline threw caution to the wind and insisted that the plane must fly in a bid to maximise profit, thereby sending the plane over to Abuja to pick passengers, when it should have being returned to Lagos for further repair.
She also claimed the flight has had persistent history of faults with its hydraulics in recent times and it was not supposed to have flown.

According to the official, “the plane has been giving faults for a very long time. There was a case when it was on ground in Uyo for over six hours, because of delayed flight, it had a bolt. And then in Abuja it happened a few days ago, then some people went with the aircraft but they could not come back, because it had a fault there and it couldnt leave Abuja.”

“The same engineers that fixed it and then they sent crew to bring it with passengers to Lagos.”

Confirming that the plane that crashed on Sunday, was not supposed to leave Lagos at all, the Dana official stated that “yesterday, it (Dana Air flight 0992) was not supposed to leave Lagos at all, but it left and then got to Calabar, gave fault and it was fixed and then they took it to Abuja, when they should have returned to Lagos but because they didn’t want to part with the little money they will make, they took it to Abuja, loaded full passengers, and then it couldn’t get to Lagos. ”

“It has being having faults over time, continuously, hydraulics or one thing or the other. That aircraft kept having problems and they were not ready to park it” she alleged.

She added that the management of the airline does not return aircrafts with faults back to the station, as it should have, but “they make it complete its normal route to where ever it is supposed to go before they bring it back to Lagos” she said.

Also, the Special Adviser, Technical to Minister of Aviation, Mr. Victor Oche Elias, has revealed that the pilot of the ill-fated plane, had alerted the aviation authority of the airport, on the emergency situation 11 nautical miles to landing.

It was further disclosed that the pilot’s May-Day cry was given priority, but the plane could not make it, as it crashed 4 nautical miles to landing.

MC Donnell Douglas MD 83 was sold to Dana Airline in 2009 by a US-based Alaska Airlines, ahead of the airline commencing its services in Nigeria.

I THINK THE DANA AIRLINE DIRECTOR NEED TO FACE PANEL CONCERNING THIS VERRY EVEN, BECAUSE I SEE A NO REASON WHY A PLANE WILL BE HAVING CONTINUES FAULTY, AND AT THE SAME TIME THE PLANE WILL STILL BE USE TO BE BOARDING PEOPLE. TAHT IS AN UNGODLY ALTITUTE, FOR THAT REASON THE COMPANY NEED TO PAY SOME CONSOLATION FEES TO THE FAMILLIES OF THE VICTIM. AND THE DIRECTOR MUST NOT GO UNPUNISHED.

Dana airline knows dat the plane dat dey inverted in a journey was not good, dat means dey did not no the value of life i will advise the govt to banish dem so dey will close up their company, dey only open up a company for selfish interest only to make profit but dey dont want to replace it. A plane dat was banned in usa dey complained dat is too old datz what dey brought to us in nigeria to use in running a company. Am expecting a great punishment from de government. Govt u people should not collect any bribe in dis case oooooooo. Also govt should sack poeple responsible for inspection of air lines (aviation) for not carrying out their duty of inspection . These sugestion should be given an utmost consideration

Nigeria labor congress will not protect you. Dont blame my sister. This is the kind of country we find yourself. I work with Indian company all they want is to make money and nothing else regardless of your welfare. They are the most corrupt but why it is not noticeable is that they cheat on workers and pay them peanuts. Government should look into these foreign investor issue. Are they investing to kil us or to make gain at our expense please PDP government help us. he country is boiling people are not happy

Am nt surprise coz dat has alwayz be d problem of Nigeria. Levity attitude of handling things, i hve no heartfelt sympathy for those on board that lost thier lives, coz majority of them were sons and daughters of those lackadasical politicians including nnpc spokesman, imagine jonathan declaring 3 days mourning for them.Where was jonathan wen my grandmother died.In accounting there is what we call Depreciation of fixed asset, nigerians don’t no when to replace thier fixed asset nt only in the aviation sector, they think air trasportation is like road transportation where u manage buses though mentainance is necessary bt nt to these extent. That air craft has already completed its estimated life before Alaska sold it to Dana as scrap. My Qs is ”Must Nigerians settle for second best”, ”How long we won continue to dey chop oyibo shit” However shall o,with heartfelt sympathy i regret to learn of the loss of lives witness by the compund the aircraft fell upon.God bless Nigeria.

it is about time we stopprd mourning for the dead and do something so their death would not have been for nothing.
Now the finger pointing has started. It will be followed by soap operas and investigative pannels(all costing the country more money) but the actual causes of this tragedy would not be touched.
We would start to hear about who’s father was a bastard, who slept with all the air hostesses, who cheated in an exam 35yrs ago and we would miss the point.
If I take my vehicle to a mechanic for full check and he disconnects my break pads or sees they are bad and refuses to fix it or inform me, then he intends to kill me and should be tied for attempted murder. And if anyone looses his life in that vehicle, then he has become a murderer.
Howmuch compensation can we give to the families of the diseased that would replace them or even come close to filing the gap.
The only thint we owe them is to make sure it dosen’t happen to aggain and if we had taken the right measures, we wouldn’t be compensating them or mourning with them today.
lets not allow this to just die away or hear “he’s my friend, just leave him”. Who knows who it’ll be next.
it’s bad enough to loose someone dear, it’s even worse to know it could have been prevented but for a little change.
I’m sure if we put the whole families together, they’ll be willing to pay dana for the full flight charge just to get thier families back.
let heads begin to roll. From the airline owners who insisted the flight takes off to the people we pay taxes to ensure faulty planes remain on ground etc….

God. When will it be implementted as a Law that these airlines operators or directors must purchase only new aircrafts?! & must do away with any one that keeps having fault! & must not operate any outside its lifespan?! Action is needed. We can’t keep talking & talking. The same old thing with no result. Those who broke the law must be punished severly so that others must learn. Simple! Nigeria must not be taken for granted.
