Angry youths in Jos, Plateau State, killed five people while protesting the suicide bombing of the Lord’s Chosen Assembly Church, that left several people dead earlier in the day.
The group – Jama’atu Alus Sunna Lidaawati Wal Jihad – popularly known as Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the suicide attacks. They also claimed credit for another attack targeted at EYN Church in Tabra- Biu, Borno State. Boko Haram said it did it to prove that Nigerian security agencies cannot stop its attacks and operations in the north.
Captain Markus Mdahyelya, the spokesperson of Special Task Force (STF), confirmed the killing of five people by the angry youths. He said those killed were primarily commercial bike riders.
The STF warned residents of Jos to stop taking laws into their hands, “The general public is warned not to take the laws into their hands as any act of crime would not be tolerated by the security agencies,”
A suicide bomber drove a car rigged with explosives to the Church in a saloon car with registration number BSA 36 AA but the car exploded before it could reach its intended target killing the bomber and four others. Also, the church building was leveled to the ground.
