He was killed on Monday, but the police confirmed it today.
According to Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Fwaje Atajiri, the incident happened on Monday at about 7:00 p.m at Kumbiya Kumbiya quarters in Gombe, residence of the deceased.
He said the matter was being investigated and appealed to the public to provide the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the assailants, adding that the police in Gombe were doing all they could to unravel the mystery behind the killing.
Atajiri also appealed to the public to remain calm as the police were committed to the security of lives and property in the state.
The deceased’s son, Garba Inuwa, said he was with his father in front of the house when two men came in a commercial tricycle, alighted and fired at the deceased.
Garba said that the attackers shot the father on the chest, stomach and back. Maman had been buried according to Muslim rites.
