Singer, Asa In Court Over N700m Lesbianism Case

Asa. Photo by: Nicolas Esposito Top Nigerian singer, Bulola Elemide, 29, popularly known as Asa will today, June 28 appear in a Lagos High Court, Ikeja for a case she instituted against a Lagos soft sell, News of People.

In April 2012, Asa was in court over a story published by News of the People on December 14-22, 2009 edition of the magazine with the caption “Lesbianism trails Asa and Manager” which alleged that the two ladies were involved in a lesbian relationship, an allegation the Jailer singer denies.

Asa is slamming a 700million naira lawsuit on News of the People.

The soul singer and her manager, in the suit, want the court to declare that the allegation of lesbianism against them was false, illegal and a violation of their rights. They also want the defendant restrained from further publication of malicious statements against them.

In April 2012, her bodyguards were reported to have gone wild in court harassing journalists who wanted to take photos of Asa.

    If actually the story was a blackmail to the duols let their boy friends come out to declare themselves and prove the magazine and whoever may have been accusing wrong.

    Sam, what if they arrange two guys to come out? it may be true and it many not be true. i think the onus is on the News of People to validate this claim. Although, their inability to validate their claim does not really falsify the reality of the claim, nevertheless, they must be irresponsible and unreasonable to publicise a claim (no matter how true) of which they can’t profer justification.
