President Goodluck Jonathan has on Thursday expressed deep sadness over the loss of lives caused by an explosion resulting from the leakage of fuel from a fallen tanker at Okobe, Rivers State, Nigeria earlier today.

The President directed federal relief and health agencies to do everything possible to ensure that all those who survived the explosion with burns and injuries receive prompt and effective medical attention.
He conveyed his sincerest condolences to the families of the victims, and the government and people of Rivers State, the statement added.
However, casualties of the tanker fire have been given a mass burial at the scene of the incident. They were buried on Thursday evening.
The Sector Commander for the Rivers State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Dr. Kayode Olagunju, stated this in a post on Facebook at 8.02p.m.
