Team Nigeria athletes of the just concluded London Paralympic games are insisting on adequate reward from the government. They arrived yesterday amid low profile reception as no official of the national sports commission was on hand to welcome them.
The athletes say they should be accorded the same respect and recognition as their able-bodied counterparts.
Despite finishing with 13 medals, and occupying the 22nd place on the overall medals table.
In comparison, Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes were cheered on by an estimated one million people.
Crowds lined the streets to celebrate as the parade made its way from Guildhall in the hearts of the city, all the way to Buckingham Palace.
