Bomb blast in Maiduguri kills 10; Bomb detonated in Minna

Maiduguri, Nigeria Reports reaching us say explosion has occurred on Monday in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, leaving at least 10 dead, according to residents.

It reportedly happened at the Post Office area.

An explosive device suspected to be a bomb was also found in Minna, the Niger state capital, and detonated by the police.

The explosive was found close to Abdulsalami motor park along Minna/Suleja road.

An eye witness said that the contents of a polythene bag placed by the road side opposite the Abdulsalami motor park made a passerby to call the attention of the police, who arrived and defuses what turned out to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The explosive which was packed in an envelope was dropped by unidentified persons beside the major road.

Eye witness acount indidicates that it was a staff of the state Environmental Agency that raised the alarm while clearing filth on the road.

Niger state Police Command comfirmed the incident but declined to give details.
