The Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim has urged Nigerians to give President Goodluck Jonathan and the Nigerian armed forces maximum support to tackle the security challenges confronting the country.
The chief of Defence who stated this while fielding questions from Journalist at the weekend after a special prayer organised in his honour by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari also noted that “The armed forces need the support of the people to enhance their smooth operations,” he said.
He said the Nigerian armed forces are blessed with experts and professionals, who have served in various capacities and contributed immensely to ensure the peace in the sub-region.
Ibrahim noted that the current security challenges facing the nation would soon become history, added that development and growth of the nation are dependent on peace.
According to him with peace in the country, the armed forces would devote their energies and expertise to other professionals challenges.
He thanked the president for the confidence reposed in him and other service chiefs by appointing them into office, appreciating the emir and entire Kwarans for honouring him.
During the prayer session, Alhaji Sulu Gambari urged the chief of defence staff not to rest on his oars in entrenching peace in the country.
He said the prayer was a tradition for all sons and daughters of the emirate that had excelled in their chosen careers, adding that the people were solidly behind him.
Presiding over the prayers, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir said prayer was the tonic that sustains mankind, praying Allah to guide and guard the CDS aright in the discharge of his duties.
He also pray God to grant peace and harmony to the nation.
