A statement signed by Mr Dauda Kolawole, the party’s Publicity Secretary, in Ibadan on Thursday, said the publication was aimed at maligning the integrity of the Oyo first lady and painting the Ajimobi-led administration in Oyo State black.
“Ajimobi has put in place a mechanism to guard against any act of financial recklessness.
“The prudent management of resources by Ajimobi’s administration is gradually returning Oyo State to its pace setter status,” the statement, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said.
The ACN said that Ajimobi could not had been in possession of such huge amount of money that was alleged to have been found on her since she had no access to government treasury.
The party said the governor was known for his frugal management of resources.
While urging rumour peddlers to desist from maligning the name of the governor, the party urged the people of the state to support the government “for posterity sake”.
“The people of Oyo State would smile last, as the developmental efforts of the present administration would become more visible,” the statement said.
The party also urged media practitioners to be alive to their responsibilities and described the staory as “mischievous, condemnable and untrue”.
