Protest as policeman allegedly shot Okada rider in Lagos (GRAPHIC IMAGE)

Okada UPDATE: The protest led to confusion in the area as policemen fired bullets and teargas to disperse the protesters.

It was reported that the policeman shot the okada rider dead after failing to stop the biker on Coker Road in Ilupeju.

The cyclist had successfully evaded the policeman’s attempt to arrest him when he was surprisingly shot dead.

There has been confusion in Ilupeju as commercial motorcycle riders aka okada on Tuesday protested the alleged killing of one of the colleagues by a policeman in Ilupeju area of Lagos.

Report says the victim was shot in the chest at 10:50 this morning around Coker Road in Ilupeju after failing to stop. The policemen from the Ilupeju Police Station were chasing him and trying to seize his Okada.

A witness wrote on Facebook that the policeman shot the okada rider dead after failing to stop the biker on Coker Road in Ilupeju.

The cyclist had successfully evaded the policeman’s attempt to arrest him when he was surprisingly shot dead.

After the shooting, the policemen entered their van and sped off. Passersby then rushed the young man to Teju Hospital.

More details on the okada rider’s killing were not immediately available.
