5 Boko Haram suspects killed, bomb factory destroyed

The Nigerian army on Thursday said soldiers destroyed a bomb making factory and killed five suspected Boko Haram members in Kaduna, leaving two with various degrees of injuries.

Army spokesman of 1 Division in Kadna, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman confirmed this to newsmen in a statement.

“On the approach to the factory, some suspected terrorists opened fire and also threw already primed Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) at the troops,” Usman said.

“The exchange of fire that ensued resulted in the death of five terrorists, while two that sustained various degrees of injuries are being treated.”

Usman said seven rifles, detonating cord, remote detonating switches and IED materials were found and destroyed.

According to Usman, when approaching the factory, some suspected terrorists opened fire and also threw already primed IED at the troops.

The exchange of fire that ensued resulted in the death of five terrorists, while two that sustained various degrees of injuries are being treated. In line without resolve to deter terrorists, the building housing the factory was demolished.
