Yaya Toure Manchester City defender Kolo Toure has dismissed talk that his brother, Yaya, will miss the African Cup of Nations after being in hospital.

Yaya was booked into an Abu Dhabi hospital for a high fever and cough after sitting out on Sunday’s group training session with Ghana.

There were fears that the veteran may not be able to continue his African Cup of Nations preparations but Kolo has assured that his brother will be fit and ready to play in South Africa.

Yaya had a couple of days off. Apart from that, everything is going very well at the training camp and we are happy to be here,” he was quoted on the SportsMole.

The Elephants will feature in a friendly on Monday against Egypt before flying out to the host nation.

A fever can be caused by many different conditions ranging from benign to potentially serious. Some studies suggest that fever is useful as a defense mechanism as the body’s immune response can be strengthened at higher temperatures, however there are arguments for and against the usefulness of fever, and the issue is controversial. .:^,
