Nigerian leaders use EFCC, ICPC to pursue their political interests – Attorney General

Ashaolu who made the call while fielding questions from Journalist in Ilorin on the Ills of corruption in the country also noted that the anti corruption agencies need to dig more into the activities of the suspect before they hurriedly take them to court.

According to him the hurried nature to taken the suspects to court without indept and proper investigation with facts makes the agencies loose more of their cases.

He said most cases lost by the anti corruption agencies could have been won if investigations were properly carried out.

“There are many abandoned cases of the anti corruption agencies in court because they lack facts and the lawyers can not perform miracles to win the cases without the required facts”

He not that it is also perceived that the leaders in the country use the agencies to pursue their political interest.

He maintained that it is a general belief that if you are against the people in government and you have little skeleton in your cupboard they will send the agency after you.

He called for public accountability on the parts of the leaders to ensure that corruption is pushed to the wall.

He urged leaders to be sincere in their activities adding that leaders in the country always conceal fact affecting the country.

He said the concealment of facts by the leaders has affected even issues that has to do with their health and accountability in the country.

He said such actions has brought corruption into all aspects of the country’s polity including infrastructures development.

He noted that all the roads, education, power supply, waters supply among others have gone very bad as a result of concealment of facts by the leaders.

He called for total re orientation in the country to enable it grow and develop like other which are on the same ladder .
