AN Ilorin Magistrate’s Court on Thursday remanded a 35 year old labourer, Abdulahi Mohammed for allegedly being in possession of explosive materials without license.
The accused person was arraigned on a two count charge of criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of explosive material.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Isaac Yakub informed the court that the accused was arrested on Jan 30, by the patrol team of policemen at Share Junction in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Yakub said that 15 pieces of explosive materials called ‘Dynamite’ were recovered from him when he was searched by the police.
He added that when the accused person was interrogated, he claimed that he bought the explosive materials from one Nda-Kolo in Ibadan, Oyo state.
He said that the alleged offence contravened section 97 of penal code law and section 19 (1, 2 and 3) of explosive act of 1964 and 1967.
He told the court that investigation was ongoing and urged the court to remand the accused in prison pending the outcome.
Magistrate Mrs. Silifat Sambo ordered the remand of the accused in Okekura Prison Ilorin.
She adjourned the case to Feb 27, for mention.
