Ex-Super Eagles star, Okey Isima, dies

Okey Isima Former Rangers International FC of Enugu and Green Eagles of Nigeria defender, Okey Isima, is dead.

He died at the age of 56.

His former teammate in the national team, Henry Nwosu revealed that Isima died Monday in Abuja after suffering from typhoid fever attack.

Nwosu who confirmed that the ex-player who breathe his last in a hospital in Abuja said, “So many people have called me to confirm the incident. It was a rude shock for me when the sad news breezed in, that we have lost a patriot in the person of Okey Isima.

“He was a complete gentleman and he had the love of his country at heart. I just hope the Federal Governmentwill give him a befitting burial and also support his family during this trying time.”

Okey Isima was a member of the Eagles team that won the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations in Lagos and also played at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow.
