Nigeria striker Joseph Akpala has suffered a serious knee injury in Werder Bremen training after he collided with goalkeeper Raphael Wolf, MTNFootball reports.
However, how long Akpala will be sidelined by this injury has yet to be confirmed.
Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf and physical trainer Reinhard Schnittker had to support Joseph Akpala on his way to the changing room, where he was examined.
The initial diagnosis is a medial collateral ligament damage to his left knee.
“There was contact when he attempted a shot and the knee got turned. We have to assume that Joseph will not be immediately available,” Schaaf told the club’s official website.
