Flames are shooting from the roof of a New York City hospital building that’s under construction.
The Fire Department of New York is at the scene of a construction fire at the NYU Langone Medical Center in Manhattan.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. One person refused medical attention at the scene.
Authorities said the fire originated at the Helen L. and Martin S. Kimmel Pavilion, an 830,000 sq ft tower that is scheduled to open in 2018, according to NBC New York.
It remains unknown what started the fire.
The Office of Emergency Managament asked people near the building to close their windows.
Images from the scene showed thick black smoke and flames rising from a roof as people in hard hats worked nearby.
The fire was reported shortly after noon Wednesday and the flames were contained within an hour.
